About Cristina Huizer

I grew up in Ridderkerk, near Rotterdam. I have been living in Amsterdam since 2009.

After two tourism courses and various internships abroad, I first ended up in the hospitality industry. Here I learned what hospitality is. During the European Football Championship in 2000, I was a hostess in one of the skyboxes at De Kuip in Rotterdam. In addition, I was allowed to do various receptions and dinners for the Royal House.

A beautiful and instructive period, but I also found out that my passion lies in organizing.

In February 2005 I joined the Charity Lotteries (Nationale Postcode Loterij, VriendenLoterij and then also BankGiro Loterij) in the 'Prizes & Packages' department. In my first year I was allowed to organize and guide trips for winners to Disneyland Paris, Crete and Saint Petersburg. My love for tourism, catering and organizing came together at the lottery; what a dream job! In addition to beautiful trips, I organized many packages for winners, including exclusive shows of musicals and concerts especially for winners. In 2008 we merged with another department and became the 'Events' department. As a result, I got to know the 'real' events in which stage, light, sound and video played a role and we started organizing and performing self-conceived productions. A whole new world that I found extremely interesting and which I entered eager to learn.

In 2021, outside of the lotteries, I was given an unique opportunity to fulfill a full-time position during the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. I discovered how much fun it was to work with new people and do something completely different from what I was used to. That tasted like more.

And that's why after almost 18 years of lotteries, it was time for a new challenge: organizing events as a freelancer and thus broadening my knowledge in the beautiful world of events!
